LED low/high/fog lights!

Hi all!

Just bought a new 2017 F-150 XLT 4x4 supercab a week ago. I have the normal halogen lights and have been thinking/researching about going LEDs for all of them. Does anyone here have any personal experience and/or currently using them? If so, which makes/models?

Thanks!!

The main High/Low LED upgrades haven't been very popular on the forum, probably because of the cost. I'm sure a few folks have gotten them, hopefully they'll chime in. I just upgraded my bulbs to some PIAAs for higher quality light.

I've been pondering upgrading the fog lights, but haven't put much research into them yet. The Morimoto and Putco drop-in systems are on my Amazon list and I'm watching the prices.

Factory LEDs run about $1400 on eBay right now. Then you have to buy a $200 harness from Raptor Retrofits.

Anzo, Spyder and other Chinese aftermarket lights get mixed reviews. Those who prefer quality and improved lighting tend not to like them. Those who just want "something different" tend to like them and accept the low quality.

The best LED fogs are OEM 2017 Super Duty fogs that fit perfect and are, I believe, plug and play.

My 2015 came with LED lights all around except for the fogs. I replaced the incandescent fog bulbs with these:
Amazon Amazon
and have been very happy with the results. Went from yellowish to pure white light.

You sir are correct about the 2017 OEM SD Platinum LED Fog Lights.

Complete remove/replace/plug/play with the 2015-2017 F150 halogen fog lights.

100% percent bolt in and are by far the best option for anyone that wants to do this conversion and yes, they are better than the Morimoto`s which are not sealed and are better than the Putco`s.

The only drawback is that they are more expensive than either of the other two brands but in my opinion, the OEM quality is worth the extra cost.

I lucked out and found a brand new pair on Ebay removed from a modified 2017 SD Platinum for 120.00 a couple of months back.

Keep an eye on Ebay because they do pop up.

Hope this info helps you OP.

The LED headlight conversions using the OEM LED headlights can be very hit and miss so proceed with caution.

Seems that many people, but not all, have had so many problems with the harnesses.

Also, have you seen how much has to be done to remove and replace these headlight housings?

This is not just a simple plug and play like the fog lights.

Hope this helps.

PIAA makes LED replacement bulbs. Expensive at $300 a pair. Lows and highs will run $600. They will fit in the halogen OEM housing. I haven't seen any reviews for them in our trucks.

This outfit has a good reputation and several users on another F150 site has praised them.
( https://www.f150leds.com/2015/#new-page6 ). I haven't bought any just because of the price, but I want to.

thanks all for the replies! i didnt specify that i wanted opinions on LED bulbs in the original post.

2 main reasons that i wanted LEDs: 1, more lighting; and 2, "white" lights versus yellow from halogen bulbs.

Also, you dont have to remove the headlights to change the bulbs. it is instructed in the manual that you can access it through the wheel well.

I have the 502A Package on my Lariat but if I had the halogens, these PIAA LED bulbs would be my first choice before swapping out the housings or going with those Anzo`s.

Yes, they are expensive bulbs but you get what you pay for and the ease of installation compared to the other options is worth it.

Of all the aftermarket housings, the Anzos are the only ones that look decent. Don't know how well they'll hold up after a couple years though.

I haven't seen a beem cut off picture on the PIAAs. They do look the most promising.

I would check out Amazon for H11 LED low beam 9005 high beam 9140 fog lamp if wanted.
Check out some of the reviews on each brand. I've ordered 6 HID kits on there without any major issues, but haven't ordered LED bulbs or kits yet.
