8" lift Rear question

I bought a 03 F-250 SD 4x4 with a 8" pro comp lift on it. Currently the rear has the factory block with a block stacked and a add a leaf on it. I really would like to change it to just a spring. My question is, should I get a 6" lift spring and leave the factory 1.5" block? Or should I just buy a 8" spring and get rid of the block? Or would changing it not be a benefit at all? I am not big on having two blocks stacked. Any thoughts or recommendation would be appreciated.

I would keep the factory block. The benefit of getting rid of the add a leaf is an improved ride and getting rid of the stacked block will reduce axle wrap. Lift springs are usually softer, so if you tow or haul heavy, you will see more squat.

You will likely also need the factory block to get the truck level. For example my truck has a 4" lift and I have a 6" icon rear blocks and the truck is level. Lifting the front and rear the same amount usually doesn't give you a level truck and will give you the saggy rear end look or bro lean as I like to call it.

Thanks for the reply. So if I did a 6" spring with factory block, that would not be enough for level? I would have to do a 6" spring with a 2" block? Are you saying I would need more than a 2" block Mike?

Right the 6" spring and factory block wouldn't be level, you would be about 2" low in the rear. The 8" spring and factory block should be level or damn close. I think you have a few options 1 is 8"spring and factory block that's just under 2", I'll call the this option 1.5 8" spring and order a real 2" block option 2 is the 6" spring and 4" block option 3 is the 8" spring and no block put it together and see what you got measure and go back in and add block of the height you determined by measuring to get it level most likely going to be right about 2". This comes from my experience with multiple trucks both gas and diesel what the lift manufacturer gives you unless you have f-350 the back end is low.

You may want to look at your driveshaft angle. You may need to incorporate a wedge in there for pinion angle. Maybe the blocks that are on there now have a taper made into them. Probably do if they and the add a leaf were a kit with the front. And like Mike said, unless you want that drag butt look, if you lift the front 8", you want 8" rear lift springs+ the factory blocks.
