Hi everyone from a newbie!

Came on here lookin 4 answers 2 ac problem I was havin. Ended up fixin it n 15 minutes 4 nuttin. I'm now hooked. I own a 2001 7.3 f250. Has anyone here ever tried or use archoil products. Powerstrokehelp.com is pitchin the products and even offers a free trial of the fuel additive. Also claim that there oil additive is a guarantee fix for stiction in injectors. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion. Thanks.

First welcome to FTE. Great bunch of folks here and tons of experience.

Stiction is more of a 6.0 engine problem. The 7.3 doesn't need and often doesn't like oil additives. Just good quality diesel engine oil and it'll run great for years.

Lots run a fuel additive like Stanodyne and Diesel Kleen. Probably could get by without it but injectors seem to run quieter for me and others

I run Stanadyne in my truck, but I think it is more peace of mind than anything else. I buy it in large quantities online and put it in the tank each time I fill.

As Paul said, stiction is not an issue for us that own the mighty 7.3 diesel.

Welcome to the FTE, it is a great source of knowledge and experience that you cannot find anywhere else.

Welcome! Your pocketbook will suffer if you hang out around here very much, LOL.

Never use any oil additives, but every now and then will add a quart of ATF when refilling the fuel tank. Old green really seems to like that.

Are you, by chance from MO? Nobody answered the question about full synthetic oil. I'm currently usin Rotella 15W40 but was thinkin bout switching 2 the full synthetic Rotella 5W40.

This is going to be one of those questions were you will get as many different answers as people who answer. I run full synthetic. A good quality dino will work just as well. I think i get a mile ot 2 better mpg and can go a little longer between changes but it costs a heck of a lot more to change oil. If you live in a colder climate it will help with cold starts. Many have said they have the romps on cold days with dino and will run synthetic to get rid of the problem. Some will run synthetic in winter and dino in summer. Plenty here have trucks with 300k, 400k, 500k and more on dino only. There have been those who had older injectors and extended the life of them by switching to synthetic. It doesn't hurt to switch back and forth so try it and see if your truck likes it. My .02 worth

^^^ What Paul said about the oil. Synthetic has a great rep for starting in cold climates and getting more miles out of tired injectors. In those cases I'd use it, but for now I'll save my pesos and use dino. I've used old ATF in the fuel before, but I'd avoid it in areas where they might check your tank for off road fuel. The red color might be hard to explain.

I run synthetic in the winter only, just for those odd days where it could get below freezing. Made a big difference in cranking speed and smoke on start-up. Summer time she gets the cheap stuff. I wait for the oil to go on sale at AutoZoo and buy as much as I can afford.

Last winter they had Valvoline ZR1 synthetic on sale for less than $3/qt. I now have about 5-6 years of oil for my TR6!

Welcome!

I have a theory after trolling a lot of forums. As the sulphur is removed from diesel, the paraffin which provides lubrication is also removed. Whilst this is ok for newer engines it probably has a wear affect on our older 7.3s. I have and still do add a quart of ashless 2 stroke oil every now and then to a full tank on fill up - the quieting of the injectors etc is massively noticeable.
