302 pulley belt question
Guys,
Putting a power steering pump on my 48 Ford f1 302 engine as part of the toyota power steering conversion. Can anyone suggest how I handle the ps belt. Do I just add a longer belt? Also, if longer belt is all that is needed should I put it on the inside or outside?

The 302s that I have seen with v-belts run the alternator off the engine side pulley and the PS pump off the radiator side pulleys. I would mount the pump first and check the belt alignment then run the belt from the crank to the water pump to the PS pump and back to the crank. Here is a pic of a 302 showing the pulleys/pump:

The alternator will be run off of the pulley groove that is closest to the engine.
The power steering ring pump will use the other groove of th crank pully
Check out cvfracing.com. Nice quality brackets for a good price. They make brackets for both the stock and saginaw pumps. You can also get the belts right from them as well.

I found this on the internet for 302/351W.
I tried to post it here but it won't go. So type in 70grabberbelts in the google search bar and it will come up under the images section.
I used this diagram to get the correct alignment and more important, the correct part numbers. As for the pump, I bought the new Borgensen Saginaw pump and brackets specifically for the 351W.

Is this what you were looking for? I'm not sure I agree with it if it is? I know this is not how my 1968 302 is setup. I put below a pic of the system I just bought for my engine. This show the belts the same way my engine is.
I should add that my setup is the saginaw pump not what is shown here.

I too have the Saginaw pump and it is mounted on the right (driver's side) of the motor. I bought the set up and it says Borgensen.
