Shell Fuel 20 Gallon Top-Off Limit

When I had my 2015 F-150 Ecoboost Limited I wasn't concerned with the Shell 20 gallon fuel-up limit. Now with the 34 gallon Super Duty and a new Bass Tracker boat with a 30 gallon tank it's kind of a hassle to shut the pump off at the 20 gallon limit and start it over again in order to fill up. Are you folks with Shell accounts having the same issue?

No gallon limit around here.. but there are dollar limits.. normally 50 or 75 bucks. Really sucks when I pull in with the 48 gallon tank when the low fuel light is on... takes 3 swipes of the credit card sometimes if I actually want to get filled all the way up.

I don't buy Shell gas or diesel because they are the highest priced fuel in my area. They are the first to raise and the last to lower their prices. Gas and diesel prices at my local Costco are .20 to .40 cents lower than the Shell station next door. Costco gas is a Top Tier gas just as Shell is and the Costco diesel is the clearest and cleanest diesel that I can buy in my area.

I run fuel at the local co-op. I have an account so I can run up to 2500 bucks if I really need too.

On the road you might consider a RV advange card with pilot/flying J. That will allow you to fill up at the truck lanes and pay the correct pricing. No fill up limit and no pre-pay either.

Had this happen at the Shell close to my work. First (and only) time filling up there I hit the cut-off.

Costco

I fuel up at Costco as often as I can.
My local Costco is always the lowest price in the area, without fail. Usually 5 to 10 cents cheaper than the lowest price brand name stations, and 40 cents or so cheaper than Shell.

The shell i fill up at sometimes has a big truck pump out back that sees alot of volume, it cuts off at $125. But if i use our rewards card from work for a discount (home depot $) it limits the discount fuel to 20 gallons

We use a Sunoco station for lot fuel and I get over the $100 mark on diesel trucks pretty often. No issues.

That is the reason. During their current 5c/gal discount, they limit you to 20 gallon per transaction.

I just run again as many times as needed.

Well, as long as we're talking Shell...

Last night, after returning from a camping trip I filled up with about 60 miles to empty (the great lie) on my 48 gallon tank. The station was completely out of gasoline, but not diesel. So I had the station to myself. That was kind of nice. I had time to wash my windows, mirror caps, bumpers, headlights and check the oil.

My local Shell station uses a $.10 / gallon discount but only up to 35 gallons. This is through King Soopers/City Market/Kroger.

Edit: My local Shell stations are fairly competitive on price without the discount. Add the discount and they beat every other station.

How much did the tank hold with 60 mte indicated? Did you top it off? I ran mine down to 10 mte, topped it off, and it took 46.5 gallons. (A while back I also topped it off a few miles after the needle moved off of "full." It took 8 gallons!)

I wrote it down and I'll look at it when i get home. I'm pretty sure it was just a bit over 40 gallons. I was expecting it to be higher. Apparently the reserve on the 48 gallon tank may be just as bad as on the smaller tanks.
