That's where the gen is on all flat V8's, although that one appears to be up and forward to clear the dual carbs.
I knew Muntz used Ford flatties, didn't realize they used 337's. I hope they had PS!

There was no 'standard equipment' engine for "Madman" Muntz' Road Jet.
Could have Ford or Merc 239 flatties, Lincoln 337 flatty. OHV V8: Cadillac 331 & Olds 303 (both introduced in 1949, but Cadillac was introduced first) & Lincoln 279 (introduced 1952).
'Course, today, could have just about any engine, as long as it fits in the engine compartment.
The Muntz Road Jet was the first car with a center console.
1940/48 Continentals came with V12's, but the engines (1940/41 & 1947/48, 1942/46 were slightly different) were so unreliable, that many were replaced with Ford/Merc flatties, OHV V8's.
Really? Never saw the gen at this place before. But I'm not a flat-specialist ;-)
On the Y block they retained the generator but moved it down the side and low. They are a bitch to work on compared to up top. It's been downhill ever since.
