Cool Want to add Power steering to 1976 F500 Flatbed

I have an uncle that is asking to help him find parts to add power steering to a 1976 F500 dump truck. We both assume that it came with this option. I need some help locating the correct parts for the conversion. I figure I need a gearbox, pumps hoses and a brackets. Maybe some fabrication. ANY help is appreciated. Thanks.

P/S parts are the same 1973/77 F500 & 1973/78 F600/880, but where you will find all these individual parts, I dunno, because all are obsolete.

You'd be better off buying one of these trucks with P/S, then removing all the parts.

1979's came with different V8's (370/429) than 1973/78 (330/361/391).

Steering column... no

Power steering box.. yes
Pitman arm.. yes

Power steering pump.. yes.. but here you have lots of options.. make your own ps bracket or adapt one.. use a saginaw pump.. or find a ford (good luck there)

On one my f600's I brazed fittings onto my own PS lines to adapt to standard length hydraulic hoses for easy replacements

I am scheduled to get several F500/F600s next month to add to my collection.. one or two of these will be parts trucks and may have power steering

Please contact me later in July and Ill know if I have everything you might need

See post number 2 above.

I suggest you start your own thread and include your VIN, and all the info off the warranty plate on your driver door. And what parts you need.

Just go to your local junkyard and look for some of these trucks, power steering was a common option. I have sold setups out of them before, pump, brackets, pulleys, box, and everything. I have some setups in Northeast Maryland if your close, not really worth shipping it all. Very easy swap. My 75 f500 has manual steering and it works great, never had any reason to change it, but it only has 7.25-20 tires and a 14k gvwr
