1985 "Alberta Special" Bronco

Hello, I just joined and I am looking for information on the Alberta Special bronco. This particular truck had air, tilt and cruise in a Custom trim line, with additional special decal package. seems to be numbered out of a limited series. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

Jason - Welcome to FTE!

I'm fairly familiar with Ford's master parts catalog and am pretty sure an Alberta Special isn't mentioned. So, my guess is that those trucks were done by someone in Canada for one or more dealerships, rather than Ford itself. We have instances of that in the States, but none that I know of that have the numbering you pictured.

But perhaps NumberDummy will stop by. He's a retired Ford parts manager with more decades of Ford experience than most FTE'ers have been alive, and he might know about it.

Here's a thread on this. There are many different local branded trucks and apparently Broncos too. Number Dummy's explanation is the most I have heard so far on this subject.

This was a dealer promotion, had nothing to do with FoMoCo.

Outside companies would stop at Ford dealers, especially in the spring after winter had concluded...offered all sorts of gizmo's to boost sales.

Promotional gizmo's were usually installed on 'price leader' (aka stripper) vehicles that would not have come with like genuine Ford parts.

The usual jazz: Body side and/or wheel opening mouldings (could be either glued or clipped on), emblems, stripe kits, some with names on them like BOSS HOSS or ALBERTA SPECIAL

Aftermarket tire covers on Bronco's with outside mounted spares could also have similar names on them.

Look at the galloping nag on the stripe kit on the door of your Bronco.

It doesn't match the style of galloping nag that Ford used, because if it did, FoMoCo would sue and win due to a trademark violation.

Well, thank you very much! Now that you point it out, the horse is very different. I would be curious to track down the dealership that sold it for their input. Thanks again!
