Too toss the POS E4OD or to keep it

Good morning fellow Ford fans. Alright here's the deal. Had a tranny problem. Torque converter kicking in and out ended up being a 3rd brake light lol. Now my problem is the the when cold shifts absolutely phenomenal extremely smooth and strong through the gears. But once it reaches operating temp the tranny shifts hard, letting off throttle almost makes the truck stutter there's no loss of power. my fluids are full but dirty replaced the fluid and filter about a month ago maybe 2. im beginning to think it might either be losing pressure to shift if something I honestly have no idea.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. Unless you guys think I should just replace it with an upgraded trans 😂

Mark, our E40D expert, will most likely weigh in on this thread. I had a ton of problems with mine. I burned up two of them until I spent the big bucks on a John Woods trans. But I tow heavy and don't want to shift with 17K behind me.

If it is losing pressure the shifts will get very long and soft, they won't be harsh.

How much fluid did you change?

I changed all the fluid in the transmission but not in the torque converter

Scrap it. Do a zf 5 speed swap. I did mine about 2 months ago, and ain't looked back. I love it. More power and a ton better for pulling. You can really feel the torque.

So you changed about half of the total fluid in the trans.

I recommend changing it again. This time drain the pan AND the torque converter, or follow this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...-transmission/

It's located on the solenoid body inside the pan.
