Bought a Fridge 4x4 - no VIN data plate Nummers Dumby help requested!

Hey guys, like the title says I just brought home a 1960 F250 4x4 but the data plate is missing from the glove box door. Good news is that the axles are correct for the F250 and 4x4 aspects of the truck and the cab has the 4x4 braces. It was originally a Nebraska truck and VIN correctly reflects a Kansas build location.

Question I have is when (about) was it built? Can you tell from the production number. Full VIN from the frame stamp is F25J0K29127. Any help would be appreciated!

VIN: F25J0K29127

F25 = F250.

J = 223 1V I-6

0 = 1960.

K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.

29127 = 1960 Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the trucks specific serial number.

ALL 1959/60 F100 & F250: 1st 3 digits of the VIN decode to either F100 or F250 period! Do not decode to 2WD or 4WD

The MODEL code stamped on the Rating Plate defines 2WD from 4WD .. also defines the specific GVWR's.

Missing Rating Plate: Impossible to figure out the day/month it was built without the production number (if applicable). No MODEL code, so it's impossible to verify it's really a 4WD

Thanks for your time, was wondering if there was a methodical way to ascertain the build date. I have used the registry thread and found a couple other FXXX0K3xxxx, and even a FXXX0K28xxx. Using their build date I've been able to estimate, within a week, the date my truck was built.

As to verifying its authenticity as a genuine 4x4, that can be done without data plate. Both of the axles are correct for a 1960 F250 (D44 in front D60 in back), the Spicer Transfer case is mounted in a factory cross member that is factory riveted to the frame. The trans tunnel has factory holes for both the 4 speed and transfer case shifters. I think I noted in the first post that the cab has the correct 4x4 cab braces. Taken as a whole, every aspect of the truck reflects its originality as a 4x4 despite the missing data plate.

Just curious why it really matters exactly what the build date was? Maybe you could find date codes on some of the parts

If im going to have a new plate made, I'd like to get close to the right build date.
