Ah, just noticed that. I also have to install the camshaft cover, so I'll take that out while I have it on the hoist.

Mine is a '68 that was actually made in Sept/Oct of '67. It was originally Rangoon Red/Wimbledon White, but, the previous and original owner painted it Candy Apple Red. IF I ever restore it, I will probably take it back to Rangoon Red.

Anyway, enjoy that truck. Mine has brought me a lot of joy.

PS: What kind of ski boat you towing? I tow a Correct Craft Martinique.
Thanks! I gotta say, your truck's paint looks a lot nicer, you buffed it to a mirror shine! The red and white looks real good.

The boat is a '97 Mastercraft prostar 205. Not my boat technically, my dad's, but he wants to tow his 5th wheel behind his truck.

Thank you! Project's going at the speed of my budget right now.

Don't stab the engine with the torque converter bolted to it like you removed the old one. Push the TQ on to the tranny's input shaft all the way. Then slowly spin the TQ while gently push on the TQ. When the TQ gets lined up with the tranny's oil pump the TQ will slide in farther. From here, I always spin the TQ so it's studs face perfectly north/south and east/west. And spin the engine around so the 4 holes in the flex plate are also perfectly north/south and east, west.

Yep, learned that one the hard way. Lots of tranny fluid was lost that day.

One thing, I'd do is install Brass freeze plugs so you won't have to ever deal with a rusted out one...

Seems like those 4 bolts are indexed and only go one way. I always used white out and put reference marks when I took them out.
Also had that back cam plug come out on a 390, always staked them in after that.

Might be an extra hole in the flex plate (flywheel) for a TQ drain plug to fit in to.

The boat is a 1997 Mastercraft Prostar. Hoping to haul that and my camper!

Anyone know where I can source a fan shroud for this truck? I'm striking out with the usual suspects, seems they don't carry it for my truck at LMC, Dennis Carpenter, Pony Parts, or NPD.

All you need to do is get a shroud for a 68-72 360/390. You do need to know if you have a regular radiator or a Super Cooling radiator.

Thanks, is the super cooling radiator worth it? I might spring for an upgrade it if it makes a difference.

Not really unless you need a new core support. You almost can get bigger radiators that will fill the regular space.
