Changing gears on the rear end of a 1994 F150 with 3.55 gears and the factory trac lok limited slip. Going to 4.11 gears and rebuilding everything while I am in there with all new bearings, clutch packs, and spider gears. Do I need a new carrier as well for the 4.11 gears? I am getting mixed messages from a few different mechanics.

I know you have to change the carrier on the dana 44 going from 3.55 to 4.11, but everything I have read about the 8.8 says the same carrier should work.

There is no carrier split for the 8.8, you can put a 4.11 gear on the3.55 carrier.

 

Thanks that is what I thought - I just wasn't sure if there was something about the trac loc carrier I needed to worry about.
