I would rather upgrade for the hassle instead of trying to bang it out which never works out for me.
Is there another style out there which fits without doing a conversion?
Also, I don't want to make the vehicle any longer as I can barely get by it in my garage.
What are some options here?
Also, a piece is missing from the driver's side of the grill. Is this piece available separately? If so, what is it called so I can try to buy one?
Thanks.

You can purchase a new replacement bumper on eBay for around 400 bucks or you can look at salvage yards for a decent one, remember that the super duty bumper up to 04 will fit and there are 1000’s of them around. As for the grill, the center section does come out however you can not purchase it by itself. I was able to source one online from a yard for 20 bucks so let the search begin. You can also purchase an aftermarket grille for around 100-150 bucks

While I don't park my Ex in the garage, I also didn't want to add a bunch of lenght to it for parking lot reasons.
So I made a bumper that tucks up as close as I could make it, still holds a winch and will take a freaking beating if needed.( 1/4 inch steel in structural and mounting locations, 3/16 steel everywhere else).
If something dents this thing, I've got bigger probelems

I would discourage the stock type aftermarket bumpers as the thin cheap chinese chit won't last long. If you back with that stock type bumper, get one from a wrecking yard or from someone that has the factory unit from a replacement. Be aware, though the 99-04 F series bumpers will fit, the bottom trim will be dark gray and not tan like the Excursion, but that can be swapped. You can put an 05 grill with the 99-04 style bumper...you just have to cut the bottom off a bit...did this many years back on both our trucks. If you're afraid to do the cutting, there's suppliers that do it so you can just bolt it up. You could also just go with the 05 grill and bumper...maybe even do the headlights, but the header panel will either need to be cut or replaced.
