A member recently posted a pic of his trucks A/C bezel, wanted to know what type it was.
Rotunda.
Fully aware what a Rotunda unit looks like as in my '66 Short Bed.
From what I have seen the majority of units installed were not the Rotunda units at least in Arizona. No clue why and do not really care. Since none left factory with A/C it was probably what dealer would make most money on or what was more readily avail.
As my user name implies Rainbow Ranger will be getting a 540" Twin Turbo B9 so whether the underdash A/C unit was made by ford or aftermarket will not matter as it will be removed. No A/C on this truck at least for now.
Kaase has everything on pallet ready to ship out today and the rainbow paint will stay . .
When I bought my '65 new, I wanted to add A/C, but the FoMoCo dealer installed kit was too expensive. So I had Air Cold Sales install Climatic A/C, total parts/labor: $150.00.

thats so cool you were able to buy one new!
do you know where truck is now? What year did you sell it?
Will that monster fit in the engine bay? What transmission? Nobody is catching that rainbow.
it will fit. All aluminum engine but will still be pretty heavy. Not many if any ford transmissions will hold the power I am shooting for. It will be a auto trans.
With so few of the Rangers around I have a hard time understanding why you would do anything with it other than keeping it original. But it is your truck and just my opinion.

There may or may not be a lot of Rangers but there seems to be no additional value in having any slick original, Ranger or not. Some say a Canadian Mercury Ranger is as rare as a unicorn yet there is one that was imported into Kansas by the son of a late Canadian father. It has been listed twice on eBay for $19,995. It did not sell twice and appears to be restored correctly. For me it is cheaper to build with modern parts and have a more drive-able truck than it is to 'restore' to period correct and have it worth less. Just my opinion.
