I want a 1959 or 1960 F-100 truck. But I'm not sure which to buy.

Can anyone help point out the differences? Are there body style differences between 1959 and 1960? Is one year-model more desirable than another? Are there things I should look for, or steer clear of? Should I buy the straight six or V8?

Photo's (showing differences) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

 

The only difference really is the hood grill and emblems.

It's pretty much just the grill/hood treatment. I think 58 would be my favorite year for stock V8. They have the best heads and 292. I like 57 grille the best and 58 next because they have the cool ribbed hood and round turn signals, just cleanwer looking than the 59-60. 60 is my least favorite because of the grill, I personally find it ugly. And the 60 292s went to the small intake valves they kept until the end of production on the 292.

 

1957's have single headlamps, 1958/60's have dual headlamps.

1957/58's have round parking lamps; 1959/60's have rectangular parking lamps.

1959 grille is one piece, 1960 grille is two pieces. Hood, hood front and side emblems, hood hinges and springs are different in 1960 than they are in 1959.

1957/58 F100/350 front bumpers are different than 1959/60 F100/350 front bumpers.

1957/58 F100/350: 223 I-6; 272 2V & 292 2V Y blocks / 1959/60 F100/350: 223 I-6; 292 2V Y block.
