I'm looking to convert from a 300 6cyl over to a 302 V8 and I was told that the 6cyl has different mounting perchers/engine towers as they are called by LMC. So if any of you guys have a pair that you're willing to sell and could help me with my conversion that would be greatly appreciated.
Not meaning to poke fun at your spelling (half the time I don't know what something is called or how its spelled). Just want to be sure we are talking about the same part.
If no one has a used set of perches (towers) the ones at LMC (item 5 for 5.0/5.8L) will work.

Reason: typo
But, do Aussie trucks use these same parts as US/Canadian trucks?
And that is the $64 dollar question right there!
I think he just bought a USA F100 flare side p/u just waiting for it to pass inspection or something like that.

No offence taken CountryBumkin - I'll be the first to admit that I'm not great at spelling. Having said that I've never heard of perches before either (I thought you were talking about a perch in the engine bay for the birds to sit on lol). I've only heard of them being called engine towers.
I often have to think about what you guys are talking about when you refer to different parts because we call them different things here (eg fender = guard, hood = bonnet, trunk = boot etc).
NumberDummy - No it's not for the van this time, it's for my 1980 F100 flareside that I bought from the USA when we visited in March.
Australia did get the bullnose truck (not flareside only style side) but they came incomplete with no engine and trans and we had to do the conversion on them. From memory perches were welded in and we had to do the l/h to r/h conversion before they were sold.
I was just hoping that someone may have a set lying around that they may want sell and make a few bucks. I don't mind purchasing them from LMC but I like to put original Ford parts on my cars/trucks as they fit better and they should fit as some of the after market stuff doesn't fit real well.
FuzzFace2 - What you've said is correct. My shipper is in the US at the moment and I will find out some more info about the truck when he gets back in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed everything will be ok with the truck and if all goes to plan, the truck may be getting shipped home in July some time.
Apologies for the late reply but there's a 16 hour time difference between us.
Clean them up and look for numbers. The ones for a 351M/400 say that on them. Dunno about what you have, but there may be numbers on them. What were they on?
Gary I don't have them yet one of the guys on a Aussie site has them and it an Aussie delivered truck. I have asked him if they do have any numbers on them and I'm waiting to hear back from him. Here is another photo he has sent me. I just want to make sure that we ( Ford Australia )didn't make any changes to the chassis
I am not sure but think I have seen it posted some of the v8's used rivets and bolts but when doing a swap like you will bolts are fine.
I am pretty sure the six are bolted in as I don't remember back that far on mine and too lazy (and hot) to go out and look.
Looking at the picture it is funny they kept the brake valve in the stock USA location. I don't remember what they did on the AMC cars they were imported there on that valve.
The steering box and linkage is that from another model made there?
Looks like they used plates on the fire wall to do the swap L to R.

Rivets and bolts. One side, the left if I remember correctly, is riveted. And the right is both riveted and bolted - on the same truck. I have no idea why both types of fasteners were used.
There were some problems with the rivets for the frame and suspension on these trucks, and Ford put out a TSB on the rivets and how to replace them: Frame Cracking/Popping - ???Gary's Garagemahal.
