2007 F150 Lariat 5.4L Multiple codes
I have a 2007 F150 Lariat with the 5.4L Triton V8
151,000 miles on it.
Started misfiring, chugging, dieseling, etc. Check engine light came on. Checked codes and found the following:
Active Codes
P0012 Camsaft Position Actuator A - Bank 1 Timing over retard
P0016 Cam/Crankshaft Pos. Correlation Sensor A - Bank 1
Pending Codes (1-5)
P0012 Camsaft Position Actuator A - Bank 1 Timing over retard
P0016 Cam/Crankshaft Pos. Correlation Sensor A - Bank 1
P0022 Camsaft Position Actuator A - Bank 2 Timing over retard
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
I've done some research and haven't found anyone posting all these codes together. Found some P0012 postings and some P0016 postings. Before I tear into this engine and start spending money I'm looking for someone that's experienced these codes together.....
Any guidance appreciated!

Your codes are indicating phasor circuit failure of course you will have misfires
Phasors are hydraulically operated using dirty engine oil , PCM sends electric pulse to VCT solenoids releasing engine oil to phasors . Cam sensors tell position or lack there of . Crank position sensor is compared to cam position and what PCM has called for .
Trouble is filter screens in vcts and other small passages get clogged with combustion carbon in oil . This circuit needs around 20 psi oil pressure . gauge on dash-- junk reads center for anything over 7psi .
plastic Tensioner seals blow out and dump oil pressure starving cam and phasor circuit . Loss of oil pressure loses tension on chains they whip and break plastic chain guides . Pieces fall in to oil pan and clog oil pickup causing lower oil pressure . Chains start eating aluminum timing cover and jump time . Phasors go bad lack of oil .Don't use aftermarket .
The fix is old style ratcheting metal 2v tensioners with no seal to blow out . Amazon and melling have them new . New updated VCTS , new OEM updated phasors . New lash adjusters and rollers and a new oil pump melling 340 or 360 .
Use only syn oil ,no extended oil change, use mc filter with good drain back check valve . No one makes better plastic guides that break . Pre fill oil filter before putting it on .
When you do timing job clean everthing including vcts bodies .
