16x5 or 16x6 wheels for 1950 ford F1
Does anyone make a slightly wider rim that accepts the pop on dog dish hubcap for these old trucks? I currently have the original 4" or 4.5? and the 7.50 tires bulge out too much (I bought the truck that way) but I like that size they look good. Any help? Thank you, Kurt

Agree that 7.50" tires are too much for the original 4.50" wheels (Ford 8C 1015 / K-H 31283). The widest tire optioned was a 6.50-16".
The widest OEM wheel having the innie hub cab mounting is the 16" x 5.00" that was optional through 1966. It is K-H 38189. Ford maddeningly liked to change numbers so you might find it under TAAA 1015C, B4C 1015A, or the last I find B4TZ 1007A. You might also find it under NWRA cross reference code X-40097, through about 1965, or X-45110 since then.
On another recent thread it was said that no wider aftermarket wheel is available having the innie hub cap mount. I'll defer to others to agree or disagree on that point. Stu

I see 16" wheels with the innie nubs on Wheel Vintiques. They really don't look like the stock Ford rims.

I see that they do have a 16" rim that does look like the original in the 6" width for $126.00 each

So far it appears that its almost impossible to find a rim that works with the hubcap, that may be a 5.0 to 6 inch wide. Stu, the ones you mention must be rare as hen's teeth? I wonder if I could weld something onto the rim of the vintiques wheel that would make it accept the hubcap? Thanks for the input

SWEET! I guess I will try the vintiques wheels in 16x6 and let everyone know how it works. Did you get the caps and trim ring though them? I doubt my factory cap (looks like yours) will work, but they offer caps like yours that will work with this wheel. We're see. Thanks everyone

I probably got the trim rings and caps from them, it's been so long I don't remember. I remember needing a 5th one for the side mount spare, and that one I got from a vendor at Carlisle. Dennis
I think I got my wheels through Coker tire and they brought them to Carlisle.

Interestingly, the vintiques website said the 16x6 wheels were not available. I went to the summit racing and they had them, and I ordered them (I feel crazy how much these were at $126 ea). They are on their way and when I get money for the new tires, I'll post a before and after picture. Well here is the before picture

Late 1947 & 1948 Ford Passenger Cars; 1948/52 F1.
1953/56 F100 hubcap looked similar, but it was painted w/red Ford letters.
It's been obsolete for decades, no one reproduces it, so most of the people that own these trucks use the 6A hubcap.

This is our 2010 Christmas card picture, my wife, son and me.
And I just bought a set of 4 used steel caps for backup!
