4x4 to 4x2 swap questions

Hello, I am not sure where to post this, but here it goes. I have a 95 F-150 4x4 and I want to swap it out for a 2 wheel front end. My question is whats it take to do this kind of swap? And would it be possible to do a Crown Vic. front end? As I want to get away from the twin I-beam setup. I have also looked into a OEM 2 wheel drive to start with but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. And if I do then its generally out of my price range.

Thanks
Ashley.

There is a thread or two on this site in particular regarding the crown vic front end swap, if memory serves me right it was a very descriptive and thorough thread. I'm sure it's more popular in the lightning world, may want to browse those forums alsom

It's a pretty straight forward swap as far as components are concerned, as the crown vic suspension is basically all one unit with its own cross member holding the two sides together. The kicker is, I think the frame needs to be narrowed for it to work on these particular trucks. Not a game ender, just a substantial additional step.

Okay awesome! I will do some searching for crown Vic swaps! I know it's big in the slick 60s trucks but wasn't sure out the mid/late 90s trucks? Thank you for your help! :-) I will keep you posted!

The antique trucks are easier to mess with because the frame is narrower, so they're more accepting of car parts. But, check out some threads and report back with q's.

2WD to 4WD (using all stock Ford parts) is said to be a bolt-on. So going to a Twin I Beam 2WD front end ought to be a bolt-on too. Just get the parts from a 2WD truck.

From what I remember reading on the Crown Vic swap, the frame modification needed is to cut off the pickup frame about at the firewall and weld the front end of the Crown Vic frame on. Not out of the question, but hardly straightforward. Of course I could be not remembering what I've read accurately, or maybe the people that I've read didn't know what they were talking about. What I do know is that I've seen a lot more threads asking about a Crown Vic front end swap than I've seen actually doing one. Maybe there are more in a different forum.
