Hey guys! I'm looking to purchase a Bronco today I'm really excited! The thing is there's two that I fell in love with.

Theres a 1990 Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition. It's navy blue with the tan and the bottom and on the hardtop. I'm not sure how many miles it has yet but I'm gonna go check it out today. Seems to be in good condition but it's leaking oil into the exhaust pipe causing white smoke. How much does it cost to fix that? He's asking 2500. I could probably drop the price to 2-2.25k

There's a 1996 Bronco XLT Edition. All white and that one also seems to be in good condition aswell. I'm also gonna check this one out today. It has 196k miles in the engine and says really there's not any issues. He's asking 4200 obo so I could probably get it down to 3.5 - 3.75k

But I want to hear from the community! What do you guys think and what do you guys reccomend?? I'd love to hear your thoughts soon!

If the two of them are equal in the condition of the body and frame (rust) then I would be swayed by the MAF EFI system of the '96.

 

Oil leaking out exhaust probably means a motor issue requiring rebuild or overhaul. I would take the OJ model.

 

Its all about personal preference, but I would say the 96. Hell, the tires and wheels on that one are worth $1000. Check the frame, under wheel wells, drip rail for rust. Looks like there was a poor attempt to repair the stress cracks at the drip rails, use that in your negotiations. Also, missing spare tire. Manual hubs are a +. good luck

 

I'm biased I guess, but I would go for the 96 if it had the 351 in it. I really like the 351 Windsor (5.8). I would like to find a 92-97 F250 with a 351 in it. Both look good and as stated I would be wary of the white smoke, I'm constantly amazed at how much people want for vehicles with problems.

Even though my opinion is late, I'd take the 96. The MAF system is going to be better for performance/economy and it seems to be in better shape mechanically.

Oil leaking out the exhaust could be several things, none of them cheap if you can't do the work yourself. I'd think best case scenario, it would be valve stem seals. I'm guessing a shop would charge 500 to 750 in labor or more to do that on these motors due to having to take the upper intake off. It's not a hard job, but a little time consuming.

If it wasn't those seals, then I'm thinking it would be quite a bit more expensive.

 

Hey Guys I'm back! Sorry it's been awhile! Turns out I didn't end up getting either! The 90 E.B never called me back and the 96 was actually a 93 when I ran the VIN number.

There was actually a 85 I was looking into getting, but everyone kept telling me it was over priced (4K, I made a post about it) and a 89 E.B Bronco for 2.2k but it had issues with power steering but it was gonna be a 10 hr drive back and forth.

Goodnews though I was able to find a 1992 Ford Bronco E.B Edition 5.0. Its Forest green. Seems to be in good, has a/c, backseat is good and the only issues is that it needs a radio, paintjob and repair of front seats... oh and it has 97k miles on it! I'll post pictures of it later. I'm thinking about maybe painting it black, navy blue or keeping the original color. What do you guys think?

I´m late, but I have to comment this.

White smoke out of the exhaust pipe means no oil leaking, but at least a broken headgasket. If it would be oil it would be blue smoke and not white.

Well, if you´re happy with this 92 then take it. I think the 5.0 is too small for the Bronco. A Bronco should have the 351.

Hey Ronny! Nice to see you reply to this tread. Yeah I've had the 92 for a while now love it honestly. It has the 5.8 engine. Trust me I do wish to install the 351 Windsor in the future but at the moment I don't have the budget for it.

 

While the 302 is considered by many to not be enough engine for a Bronco/Truck, I know from personal experience that a 302 powered Bronco with 38" super swampers will pull a 19' bass boat anywhere you want to go in the sandhills. And will do most of it in 2wd.
