Got myself a new(er) truck!
Hey all,
Some of you my have remembered a while back I was asking about the newer trucks and 6.7's coming from a 7.3L. Well I just bit the bullet and got a 2015 F350 Platinum with only 11.5K on it! Super excited, going to miss the 7.3L but after a few weeks of driving this I'm sure I won't want to go back.
Found a single owner garage kept truck that hadn't seen snow, the owner used his work truck for most things and this was just covered sitting in the garage. He put on a AFE cold air intake and spray painted most of the metal undersides for rust protection. He also had a Diesel Site coolant filter but hadn't installed it yet. He also had front/rear weathertech mats. Overall a well kept truck and pretty darn clean.
Are there any other mods I can do that keep the factory warranty and emissions? I was thinking of a muffler delete pipe but couldn't find much anything else.

Congrats sir!
Swap out the cold side intercooler tube, been know to fail, and at no particular mileage. AFE, H&S, Misimoto, and i think Rudys have them. All will serve the purpose, biggest difference is some you have to move the P/S reservoir over a bit. My AFE one included a nice bracket.

Once upon a time I loved those old dinosaurs; now when I see (or hear) them I'm disgusted.
One passed me by yesterday (Dodge) - first I heard it approaching me from behind then as it passed I smelled it (my windows were open).
Fortunately he didn't roll coal (another once funny but now loathsome activity).

check for open recalls, there maybe one for reprogramming due to EGT sensors.
Otherwise, just drive the truck. If memory serves me, Colorado does diesel emission testing.

Andrew, Nice truck! You better update your sig line! As for the cold side CAC tube, there is a recent thread - mislabeled "Blew hot side CAC tube" that has a lot of good info in it. This mod is picking up steam it seems, and the reports are that the Ford dealerships are replacing quite a few. I finally replaced on my 2016, with the Mishimoto which went on like a dream, however, by all accounts the Rudy's version appears to be similar for 1/2 the cost.
As a side note, the 2011's and up are all using DEF now. Read up on that. Don't be distracted when filling DEF, as the fill is right next to the fuel fill. Quite a few stories on this website where guys have poured DEF into the fuel tank by accident, and it ends up being an extremely costly mistake. I've never done it, but have come close twice. both time I was in a hurry, and distracted. As for fuel, these engines are pickier than the older 6.0's 6.4's, so don't be adding 2-cycle oil, or anything with alcohol in it either.
Enjoy!

I fill the def at a separate time then fueling.
Also the def system works best to run it down to less than <200 miles to empty. Then do a complete refill.
If towing you use more def. If unload driving, less def but regens are more.
If you are going cross country like me, then carry a couple of jugs.
You can also get it at truck stops but I don't since the fill location is so close to each other.

Something else Andrew, Many of the "standard mods" from the 7.3/6.0 days simply are not needed anymore, especially if you want to keep warranty in tact. That cold air intake, is honestly a questionable mod with regards to performance, and possibly a downgrade with regards to the filterbox. Removing/replacing any of the exhaust components is not really doable if you are planning on retaining warranty. Removal/changes usually require a Tuner to make it happen.
As for the coolant filter, I used to run one on my 2005 6.0 liter, and for good reason. Not many guys run them on the 2011's and up, and we don't really hear on this website of many issues surrounding cooling systems, with the exception of the pretty common, primary cooling system radiator failure on the bottom left corner over time.
You might consider purchasing a Ford ESP from either Ziegler or Flood. I just bought a 6yr/125K PremiumCare for about $2500. Yea, its a lot of money, but like an insurance plan. The radiator replacement alone can run $1000 or more, and is not a project that many shadetree mechanics want to make like in the old days. My 2011 had radiator go at about 40K miles, so honestly, I am planning on one in my future with the 2016, and is the sole reason I bought the ESP. These trucks are getting too expensive to fix out of pocket when it comes to engine/drive train repairs.
