2wd rear axle swap with 4wd
My basic question is can I put a complete 4wd rear axle directly into my 2wd ( and vise versa)? Or do the leaf spring perches have to be move on the housing to accommodate the pinion angle?
I've got a 74 f250 2wd with a dana 60, and I'm looking to replace it with a rear axle out of a 73 f250 4wd. The 73 axle doesn't have the "60" stamped on the housing like the 74, but has the same ( or very similar) bolt pattern. What kind of rear end is in the 73, and can I swap it?

Anyway, the 4wd is probably on a narrower frame. Would require moving the spring perches outboard, at least
