2011 to 2016 F-Series Super Duty Bug Deflector Adhesion Problems
Hi all. Just curious. Are there any other '11 to '16 Super Duty owners out there who have had problems with their factory Ford bug deflector coming unfastened from the hood center area where the deflector is supposed to adhere by the two-sided tape on these particular models. My previous 2007 Super Duty didn't have this problem, but of course it was fastened by brackets and screws all across the hood, making it less problematic. Since having owned my current '16, I've already had one that broke off during a drive on the highway at speed. Cleaning off the old residue was a monumental pain. Now recently, my replacement deflector has become unfastened at the driver side enough to the point where it is vibrating and rattling at highway speeds again, about to meet the same fate as the first one. Of course, rather than risk having it break off again and possibly hit a vehicle behind me at speed, I chose to remove it intact, save for the adhesive section of it being broken off in chunks that I'm now faced with the task of somehow cleaning off.
Before I contemplate and re-evaluate reinstalling it, I am curious if there are any one of you who have had to deal with this before, and if so what was your fix? Find an alternative method or better method of refastening it to the hood possibly using a better adhesive, or simply doing away with it and scrapping it?

Not that it helps you, but I've had a couple of Aeroskins and never a problem.
But when I installed them, I made sure to clean the area with an alcohol pad. I also ran a hair dryer across the the spots on the hood where tape was going to be applied. Tape seems to grab the warm metal a little better. So far, so good.
I also used that method when I had a side window visor come loose.
3M makes a heavier duty double sided tape. I've seen it at Lowe's as well as local hardware stores and I always keep a roll in the toolbox. I hope you find your fix.
