Instrument cluster repair or buy used?
I found a used E350 6.0 PSD instrument cluster from Diesel Redemption for $80 on Ebay with free shipping. I have purchased from them before and the service is outstanding.
Circuit Board Medics has a repair service for $170 with free shipping. This includes replacing failed lamps. I can upgrade to LED for $30.
My entire instrument cluster has intermittent problems. Sometimes the high beam sign is lit up. Sometimes all the power is gone and none of the gauges work. It goes for months and then hiccups.
For a diesel, either option is an inexpensive repair for me. The van has 800,000 miles and I assume the instrument cluster is original.
Any suggestions for the most reliable route other than brand new?
Thanks!
