I'm really green to the Ex world. I recently purchased a 2000 Ex, 2wd w/ the 7.3. I had a 4x4 v10 for a month and sold it to buy the 2wd because of the ride. I have looked a lot on this site and believe I can keep the drivability with a good lift. THE RUB... I purchased a 6 inch lift (pro comp) and 35 toyo's. After getting the tires on the wheels I am nervous I will not have clearance. Anyone have any input on the clearance? I don't mind being the guinea pig but would love to skirt the trouble if possible. Thank you all for theses priceless threads.

 

35's will fit with a 4" lift, should work with a 6" lift. Those 35's look big off the vehicle don't they?

 

I think you'll be fine. Is the lift installed yet? Or are you waiting for input here before adding the lift? The only issue will be up front. If you stay on paved roads (less axle articulation), even less chance of rubbing.

Would be great to see a how to thread on a 2wd lift install for our tech folder.

What do you mean? I run 35's on mine with a 4" lift, fit great.

What I was saying is that the 35's look big off the truck on the ground.

Here's my old one with a 4" lift and 35's

 

Just remember, 4wd starts out 2 inches taller than 2wd. And the 2wd has front coils so not going to rub on them at full lock, but inner fenders, front bumper, might be tight

 

I saw a few 6" pro comp lifts in 2wd, they looked about the same. I am guessing you are replacing the radius arms as well

 

Just pay attention to what the lift is for.
The 4" (4wd) superduty lift is a 6" (4wd) excursion lift, because excursions are 2" lower than equivalent superduty.

2wd 6" excursion lift is standard, because of the front suspension, a smaller lift doesn't fit the front end design.

 

I've got a 6" ProComp 2WD lift and 35s. I rub at probably 90% turn both ways, but have yet to attempt any trimming to prevent the rub, so it's entirely likely that some trimming can get rid of the rub completely.

 

I'll tell you what everyone told me when I wanted to lift my 2wd (although you won't like it). Go buy a 4wd and be done with it

 

It's not as bad as that, Razzi has a 6" lift on his 2WD Ex and it looks real nice.
I'll be converting my 2WD Excursion to 4WD this winter by swapping the suspension from the non-running '05 F250 I bought for this project.

It's been documented on FTE several times (with great pics) how to do this and I'll be taking lots of pics as well.

 

There's plenty of valid rationale out there against modding 2WDs, but if you want to join me in the "Respectfully Don't Give A S***" Club, you'll have a confidant in me LOL

 

Razzis truck looks GREAT, I saw it in person. That said it looked about half as good once it was surrounded by 3 other 4wd rigs in his driveway
