This conversation reminds me of the troubles that I had with the hot side tubes on my 6.0L. I tried everything except replacing the tubes, new clamps, Ford clamps, aftermarket clamps, hairspray, I had them so tight they dented the tube & yet they'd still pop off intermittently with enough boost. I sure hope I'm not going down that road again, maybe I should look into the full silicone tube from H&S?

This is a completely different situation than the 6.0. I had the same issues with my 6.0, then I made a bracket to secure the long aluminum pipe to the alternator, so that it couldn’t move around, and all was good.

I just put the Rudy’s kit on my 16, that has 42k miles, and towed heavy (14,000 lbs) up steep grades with lots of boost. No issues.

The title of this thread is actually wrong. This thread was never about the HOT side tube but the cold side. The title was never changed to reflect that.

I have 25k on my two metal tube Rudy's kit with no problems. It you want to go all silicone and pay the extra money, go for it.

I made some marks on my tubes prior to installation. The black mark indicated where clamp would site so it is on the correct side of the "dog knot" rolled into the metal tube. The red mark was how deep i want to slip the hose into the tube so I would have some of the silicone hose on the tube side of the clamp.

Placing the clamp in this location prevents the hose and tube from separating as you read has happened to someone. I do not think the hose and clamp, even if clamp only somewhat snugged, will slip over the "dog knot" the metal tube

This is a current photo taken today of the upper tube and its location since install. It doesn't appear to have moved or slipped. Granted the clamps are tight, not snugged.

.
That was a great idea, placing those marks on there. I fixed it and cranked that clamp all the way down. I just didn't like the way the tube was resting up against the coolant fitting. Appreciate the advice.

I installed the AFE cold side kit today, my cold side popped wednesday afternoon. Pretty straight forward install, took all up about an hour and a half, 20 minutes of that due to dropping the clamp nuts twice, and having to find them. Test drive held with turbo pressure of 25psi. 144k miles and this is the second stock part failure, first time I was still under warranty so let Ford replace it with stock parts. Hopefully this is the last time.
