'79 F700 Water Temp and Inst Voltage
New project truck was indicating very little movement on the water temperature gauge with a warmed up engine so I decided to swap in a new temp sending unit. Before I did that, I measured the voltage on the pick-up wire. It just kept jumping around from 0 to about 8 volts and everything in between. Next, I went to the fuse block and tried to measure voltage at INST fuse...Zero. Every other fuse has good voltage either with key OFF, or with key in RUN positions. I pulled the fuse block from the kick panel and can see a light blue with red striped wire comes into both sides of that fuse. I am not sure the Water Temp and no voltage at the INST fuse are related necessarily. Oddly, the oil pressure gauge works fine.
How does the wiring run to that INST fuse? Looking for a way to trouble-shoot that circuit. Thank you.

Just what you need, another new project! Where in the heck did you park it and what in the heck are you going to do with it?
Your driveway is already full of all sorts of unfinished car/truck and Bronco projects. Another unfinished project is your Victorian home.
The ICVR (Instrument Cluster Voltage Regulator) affects the fuel, temp and oil pressure gauges.
These trucks have a HUGE radiator so don't expect the temp gauge (notoriously inaccurate!) to move much.
One a the members of this forum you need to converse with is: notmeofficer .. who has several similar 'old rolling piles of misery.'
A mayor and former cop should get along famously.

Ah, Number Dummy, you know me too well. Good to hear from you old friend. Yes, up to the usual as you correctly point out. But it's worse than you imagine I pulled this truck out of a field where it had set for 7 years. I got it to transport yet another project; a John Deere 350 dozer. The truck has an amazing double piston, three stage hydraulic dump bed. Need the dozer to clean up fence lines around my dad's property and the truck to move the dozer from farm to farm. BTW, I am also the mayor now, so busier than ever...and loving it.
