Here in a few weeks I am going to get my new daily driver from a fellow fter /very good friend.
its a 1976 super cab f150 xlt ranger. Hcode I believe 4v 390 automatic. The other thing is intact factory ac.
There are trailer special emblems on each fender, big west coast mirrors, xtra cooling rad,big trans cooler, dual batteries. I have searched but never really have found much info other than this.
I am very excited to get this home and get it ready for daily driver status. My first truck was a 75 f100 2wd 4speed 300cid.
I have had a ton of other dents over the years but this super cab with my family status is perfect . I hope to get my daughters the experience I had when I was first driving my ol 75.
Does anybody have anything to add regarding the trailer special? Or pretty much anything here lol
I'm new to the dent side as i have been an obs power stroke guy for several years. Currently my 96 is a frame off redoo hence the dd status for the 76 when it gets home.
Thanks for reading my rambling lol

Aaron

I don't know what an "extra cab" is, but a Trailer Special should have:
  • Auxiliary battery
  • High-output alternator
  • Anti-sway bars
  • Super-cooling radiator with transmission cooler
  • Trailer wiring harness
  • Heavy duty flasher

Welcome back to the dent side world, yes they are older, but just a cool. Sounds like you have a good one.

FYI you are getting a "Super Cab", yes in today's world we all refer to newer trucks as an extra cab or extended cab. So its all good to me, but some folks get all wrapped around the d/s about terminology.

Good thread to find out all about them. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...supercabs.html

Sorry fellas. Super cab. Yea. I'm very stoked. My wife isn't even threatening to make me sleep in it or my cc lol.
yea I have a few pis. I was there a few months ago and heard it run. It has been sitting for a few years so the fuel tank is nasty. I plan on replacing it as soon as its home. This is going to be tough as my obs is apart also but I honestly am prob more excited about the 76 than I have been in a long time .
I always wanted a 390 truck. I had a 75 360 highboy,77 highboy,78 4wd ,79 2wd 300,75 250 2wd super cab(parted out junk) 2 64 f250 y-blocks.
Drove a 65 f250 with 390 during high school and NADC schooling and after. (5 years total).

This super cab 390 xlt is really a long time dream. Never thought it would happen and had given up honestly. My buddy is gonna have a LOT of favors from me for a long time which he won't let me do anything for him.

There it is in all its glory. Someday I would love to paint it back to the original blue color.

Looks good, after you get tired of flipping fwd your seat to load and unload the back seat, the kids will learn to load from the passenger side only. lol

It luckily has the rear bench seat. The girls would like the jump seats but I much prefer the bench.
the upholstery on the front seat is in great shape so I'll have to be careful to not tear up or get it filthy from work lol.

I use to have a 79 bronco that has a front bench seat with a split folder back and it had a old style horse blanket seat cover that was tough. Might scour the web to locate one?

Ck out Coverking or Saddleman? One that fits a 73-79 (maybe an 80 to 82?) front bench split folder should fit. Something that is contractor grade or ballistic canvas should be as tough or even tougher.

Jump seats only work for 2 kids and make them set sideways with a lap belt only. Rear bench can be modded for 3 pt set up for the corners.

Oops wrong code. I know it is a 4v 390 but once I actually get it we shall see what the data tag shows. I'm not putting a 2v back on if it were originally that way lol.

Does anybody know where those other fellows are getting ahold of ford for the original option brake down of their trucks?

Copy of the original build sheet available from martiauto.com

FoMoCo no longer has this info, because...

In the late 1980's, FoMoCo was planning to THROW AWAY all the original 1967/79 car/truck records.

Kevin Marti, a Mustang "nut" in Phoenix AZ found out and got ALL of them.

He is apparently well-known as the Mustang guy. When they found the "lost" Bullitt Mustang in Mexico, they called Marti to authenticate it.
