85 f250 6.9l diesel wont start no power

Just the other day it started just fine went to work, came home no problems. I installed a light bar, still have power, dome light head lights everything worked. I went to turn the key over to start it the next day and i get nothing. So i crossed the solenoid with key on and it would turn over but still nothing. No lights nothing at all. I replaced the solenoid and starter and the fusable links from the starter. I still have nothing. No lights no gages and no key. I do have an electronic fuel pump wired to the battery with an inline fuse and a Togo switch. Obviously im getting fuel but i just dont know what the problem would be. Any advise would help. Im not a diesel mechanic by all means so please use dummy turms lol. Thanks in advance!

How do you know you're getting fuel?

Does the GLOW PLUG light come on? Have you checked for power at the appropriate terminals of the glow plug relay?

Exactly how did you wire the light bar? Have you TESTED (not just visually checked) ALL fuses?

One obvious place to check for power is the FSS - fuel shut-off solenoid, on the IP, toward the front. Two wires on a single terminal. Should have power with the key in the RUN position.

Yes i have checked the fuses with a ground light tester and a fuse tester and a volt tester. No power anywhere. Light bar and all the things i hard wired runs from the battery to an in line fuse then to a togo switch and of course a ground. I put an in line fuse in so it dont roast the wires if all goes south.

So the fuses are good, but there's no power to the hot side of any fuse terminal?

I installed a light bar,...
That's the one thing that changed, right before your problem started.

I would recommend electrically disconnecting it and returning every electrical wire associated with that installation to exactly the way it was before you proceed trying to figure out what's wrong. That includes any wiring (or harness) that was moved out of the way and inspect those areas where you worked very closely (wires connectors etc.)

THEN proceed to try to figure out what's wrong with truck wiring.

You can check the wires of the light bar and switch independently from the truck, using a volt-ohm meter and if no problems, then by hooking it up directly to a battery source. If there is a problem with it, that could have caused a problem in the truck wiring, but even if it all tests good with no problems I would still leave it disconnected from the truck until you figure out what happened.

I have no idea how you wired this light bar into the truck but it might give us a clue.

How fast is it turning over? What is the voltage on both batteries? With the key on disconnect/ rec9nnect FSS you should hear it clicking. It is the front connector on the injector pump.

Well i just figured out the problem! There are two wires with fusable links that goes on the positive post of the solenoid and it was on the ground bracket that bolts to the fender well. Thanks everyone so much for all the advise! Im greatful for all of it!

I have no clue. I was goin through with a volt meter and i tested the solenoid and my dad just told me to try takin those wires off there and putting them on the positive. He told me they shouldnt be on the ground bracket anyway. My doors dont lock nor do i have a key so anyone couldve switched them i assume anyway.

Is it possible that when you replaced the solenoid you put them in the wrong place. I could seet that happening maybe sone thing I would do. I doubt someone would take the time to open the hood, know where to look take the connection loose , pull the mounting bolt move the wires then put everything back

Damn, you caught me. The other day I was really busy, but I managed to sneak over to the OP's truck and swap over his fusable link wires.

So far, only 1mpg. But I've only driven it about 300 miles so far.
