Atlas 40 tune with emissions in AZ

Hi All,
My FICM just went out and I will be sending it to FICMrepair on Monday morning. I wanted to get the Atlas 40 tune while it was there.I live in Maricopa County, AZ and have to go through yearly emissions testingwhich is the three “blip” test. Pedal to the floor three times till it hits therev-limiter. (I HATE that test…)
My questions are:
Will this tune have a negative effect on the emissions test?
Should I get a spare FICM with a stock tune for emissionstesting?
Does anyone else here live in AZ and go through that testwith the Atlas 40 tune?
My truck is an 05 SBCC with 6” lift and 35’s. Also has theBanks 4” cat back system and a punched out cat. All motor updates were doneabout 4 years ago except the head bolts. I had to stop somewhere. haha

Thanks for any replies. This is a great forum with manyhelpful members…

Yes it is.... I hate running my motor like that.
Also, sorry for the grammar issues. I copy and pasted that from Word. The first time I typed it, it timed out and lost everything...

I don't live in AZ so I can't really answer but if you have a punched out cat how do you pass the test now?

I live in Las Vegas where we have the sniffer in the exhaust while on the dyno test. It passed last year with the Atlas 40 no problem. My truck has stock exhaust with the CAT but no muffler.

Our test is just a soot test, I believe. I have a spare cat to install if needed, but it has passed the last two years.
My main concern is about the rev-limiter issue. Does the Atlas tune change the limits for any of that stuff, or is that handled through the PCM?
I think that is why AZ uses this test, to stop people from putting tunes on their diesels...

Don't want to over-rev the motor with the new tune and damage stuff...

A FICM tune cannot change redline or in any way impact it. We do have loads of customers in AZ, Cali, and other 'emissions-heavy' states with no complaints.

Hope this helps!

We do the snap test in Washington. I make sure to roll back the tune to stock and put the cat back in. The Atlas 40 has never caused an issue. Passed every time. Sadly, I am up for testing again as soon as we get back from our adventure.

Just need to stop by the storage unit and catch the cat.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Ed, I will have mine in the mail to you in the morning.

Yes, it is the snap test... I forgot what they call it. I am just having the tune on the FICM without the programmer, so I hope I don't have any issues.

Thanks for easing my mind a little!

Could you have a custom sct tune written with like a 2500rpm redline just for the snap test so it's not being revved so hard

You don't even need to do that the SCT can adjust the rev limiter when
you load the tune. So you should be able to make that adjustment
without loading any tunes. Like say you wanted to make a change to the
revolutions per mile for the tire size and lower the rev limiter.
It's all in the options.

I'm waiting for the day someone posts here or somewhere else that the rev limiter did not work as designed and parts were flying from the side of the block...........that, or it ran like crap after the tests due to something else that would not have normally happened.

EPA my foot..they have their place I realize but some things are a crock of !@#$
