Just double checking I may buy a 03 f 150 4x4 that has a 5.4 and was told this year 5.4 doesnt have the plug issue and starts at 04 is this true?not sure if tyhis guy is bsing me or not thanks.

 

The '03 5.4 is a 2v motor, it does not have the stuck/broken problem issue that the 3v has.
The 2v does have a problem with plugs spitting out if not torqued correctly (28 ft/lbs dry) because of few threads in the head. The problems was solved during the '03 model year, so you may have "good" heads.

 

My 03 5.4 had a plug spit out on December 30th 1,000 miles from home. I was able to get it repaired in time for my trip home on January 2.

 

I should clarify, the problem was fixed during the '03 production year, so some '03 still have the "bad" heads.
