Baby Boomer F250 Build Thread

Didn't think I needed a build thread but, after listening to all the good advice from you guys I had second thoughts. Also, I'll probably need the pictures to put it back together.
These are the before pictures. PO had painted over some rust but there was more bondo than I wanted under a new paint job. All the clear coat peeling gave it a diseased look.

Baby Boomer F250 Build Thread

I found a good bed without bondo and we've followed yall's examples and filled the seams and bed pockets. About ready to go to the painter as soon as he has room. The bed - not the truck. Way down the road on that one.

If you have any advice on how to run this "build thread", feel free to wise me up. I'm not a computer guy!

I've already up graded ALL the electrical and some of the motor and engine compartment.

Baby Boomer F250 Build Thread

Last week had new leaf springs built with all new hardware. Dana 60 is out being checked out. I was going to change the ratio from the 373 to about a 325, but talked myself out of it.
Got drums turned, new shoes, new cylinders, and springs.
Holy Smokes, I couldn't believe the price of those axle seals! $22 each!

Looks like you'll be saving that color. I like it too. I'll be watching along. What are your plans for it?
Sub'd.

I've been getting body parts media blasted and the painter wants me to get the cab blasted because of the bondo and poor previous work. Needs cab corners and cab supports for sure.
I hadn't,t planned on a cab off, but it looks like that's where I'm headed. I really like the idea of getting to the complete frame for clean and paint. Pulling the glass and interior doesn't seen like to big a deal.
I'll probably replace the kingpins, etc. at that time too.

It's a '59, unless I am mistaken. I think your truck will look great with that color. Are you gonna do a two tone?

Funny how a little job turns into a frame off rebuild!

My 81 F100 started out to just get it patched up to drive. Floors and close to the rockers needed holes patched well it turned into a frame off rebuild, floors, rockers, cab corners, rear door posts, left lower door inside & outside replaced.
Because the cab is off strip the frame for a good cleaning and paint ........ and on and on it goes.

Thing is I am doing all the work myself, pulling off parts, cleaning, painting, welding in patches, etc,
Been on mine for about a year and a half now will be happy if I have the cab painted by years end.

Keep us post on your project

My other Indian Turquoise Ford

Actually this was the first one I bought. Loved the color and look. The a few weeks later I found the 250 in the same color and was head over heels.

I do like the two with the Wimbledon White, but I'm going with the solid color. Thinking of using a hammer tone grey accent on a 67 steel grill, old school stock wheels, a rear bumper. Chrome front bumper windshield trim, drip rail trim, and mirrors.

Saw this a few weeks ago!

Saw this a few weeks ago. Really nice for the original look.
Owner bought it for his wife because she had one like it in high school.
