Help me with eng/trans ID mystery

I am looking at purchasing a 1987 f350 2wd dually 6.9 with a zf5.

Now according to some who post on this website this truck does not exist from the factory.

I have seen a few articles where it said a few zf5 trans behind a 6.9 might have slipped in at the end of the 87 production run.

What do you think? (besides those stacks being God-awful haha )

'87 was the final year for the 6.9 and yes, they were available with a ZF. I've seen a few of them over the years.

It should make you a nice truck.ZF5 from the factory or otherwise isn't the main factor though. The fact it has one, makes it much more desirable than an old 4 speed.
