1994 F250 Turbo Diesel no gears

Hi, my 1994 F250 Turbo Diesel 4x4 will not go into gear.
It will go into PARK and neutral.
I was driving with transfer case in 2H and Hubs FREE doing hwy speed when it just slipped out, nothing there at all.
Speedo went nuts and buried the needle which is still in that position.
Any ideas??

PSOM failure? What happens when you shift into R/2 and 1?
Well, probably nothing I suppose now that I think about it.The trans control unit is getting the signal that your going over 100mph,so probably wont be getting much for gears.

In Park, does the park pawl actually keep the truck from moving?

Nothing happens FORDF250HDXLT.
Yes it does madpogue.
Fluid is good
I used the 4x4 30 min prior to getting on the hwy.
The hubs were turned back to FREE way before that as well as putting it back into 2H...

Could this be an electrical issue, like a bad ground or power wire?
As the truck did have a 10-15 min bout with speedo going crazy then eventually maxxing out.
I can fire it up and it says I'm doing max speed.
Going through gears is smooth no grinding.
Can the Transfercase be stuck in Neutrel? Can't see thatI drove after putting it back into 2H.

You should be able to remove the trans relay and find a couple gears. This will cut power to the trans control unit. Then the truck should have reverse and (high gear in D but don't frig with this) and 2nd gear in both the manual 1 and 2 positions.
This here will cut the power to the trans controller that is freaked out and confused from the 100 MPH + speed signal which is blocking all your gears.......this is admittingly a guess but seems like a logical one.

If this is the case, which most likely will be,then the odds are high that after you replace the broken speedometer, that everything will be normal again, when you put the relay back in too of course.

PSOM info is here. Here you can find info to possibly fixing it yourself, send it in for repair or replace it.

It's not the transfer case. If it were, the Park pawl would not hold the truck in place. Thus the question.

This transmission is 100% computer controlled so you need to pull the codes. I wouldn't be surprised if the speedo issue is directly related.

Is the speedo buried with key OFF, or only with key ON?

Hail-Mary option - DISCONNECT the VSS. PCM will think the truck is not moving, and will probably shift the tranny really poorly, but it MIGHT at least just engage a gear. Another option might be do disconnect the PSOM.

ok so the PSOM is the Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module
and the VSS is the Vehicle Speed Sensor , where can I find that under the hood?
Still trying to find a code reader ...

VSS is not under the hood; it's on the diff.
PSOM is behind the speedo-odo. The connector right in the middle of the back of the cluster is the PSOM connector.

Do you have a Windows laptop, notebook, netbook, etc?
