1974 2wd V8 360 stalls after driving

Hello,

MY truck starts and drives fine for 10 or so minutes then starts to sputter and turns off and dies. I can restart a couple minutes later then dies again 100 meters down and thereafter repeatedly does this. I leave it for a while and it will start up and drive no problem then happen again

Could this be a fuel issue, maybe the carb filter or a distributor condenser overheating?

How do I check

Fuel pump with filter in it has been changed.

Help please.

Prolly got sediment in the fuel tank plugging up the intake. Then when all is calm, the sediment falls off and sinks to the bottom. As soon as the truck gets jostled again, the cycle repeats.

Drain, flush, and refill the fuel tank.
Blow out the fuel lines.
Temporarily install see-through inline filters to monitor the situation.

If there IS a points & condenser ignition, and by 1974 I'm not too sure - and, the condenser is one of the recently manufactured drug store types - that could be the problem. Put the old one back in.

Take the gas cap off and see if that helps.

Sounds like an ignition module box, or maybe the distributor pick-up - if the truck does happen to be equipped with Duraspark.

Correct on the ICM goin' south...textbook symptoms, if you have the DSI.

I believe '74 was the first year for the DSI and used a coil capacitor.

'74 used the black grommet.....'75 used the green grommet...particular to those year vehicles/engines.

Thanks,

How should I go about checking this? Probably a broad question but any help would be good

Don't know what you want to check.....posts #2,3,4,5...? Have you done the previous checks/troubleshooting?

Still don't know what you have for the ignition setup....points? DSI?
