new 6.7 Fuel Filters

Has anyone replaced these yet? I have never dealt with the style of fuel filter on the top side of the engine. Any tricks I need to know? also, any tricks I need to know about the filter on the fuel tank?

Accord to the dealership service department there are two (2) fuel filters that are recommended to be replaced at 15,000 miles. The Two (2) filters cost $130. That's not counting labor. I think I'll shop around and also learn how to install the fuel filters myself.

According to the owners manual under normal driving the filters have a service interval of 30k miles .. I do very little light towing so I plan on changing mine at 20k.. you can get the filters online for about 50$

I totally get when and what filters need to replaced.

I am asking if there are and tricks in removing the connections to the filters as to not break them, etc.

I apologize I should've quoted the previous poster, I was trying to help him out a little since his dealer was trying to make some money off him

No Worries, im just looking to see if anyone has changed them, and if so, what are the tricks to disconnect the lines, etc.

Right now, im on the fence on changing these filters at 15k or 22.5k miles. I have done very little towing so far. I can get the filters online for between $75-100. Id rather not change these every other oil change, id like to try and extend these out one more oil change(I change my oil every 7500 miles)

It's very easy to do. The top side filter is very similar to the 11-16 models. Press the lines in slightly, press the tabs and pull the lines from the filter. Have a rag handy to catch the small leftover diesel in the filter/lines. To remove the filter, slightly turn it counter clockwise and pull up. It slides right out.

The rear filter is a lot easier to do than the 11-16 IMO. Disconnect the sensor, six bolts hold the lower housing and once those six bolts are removed slide out the lower housing and the rear filter comes out with it.

At $50-75 a set and seeing how picky these 6.7s are with good fuel, I'd change'em out every other oil change if it were my truck.

Fuel filters seem to be one of the bigger money makers for the dealership when it comes to common maintenance items. For example, with my current truck my dealer offered to change the fuel filters for $195, (thanks to this forum, I was armed with the knowledge that I could buy them online for $50...) while they only charge ~$5 more for the air filter than I can buy it for on Amazon, and don't charge any labor to change it during a normal service.

I haven't looked yet, is there a drain on that Filter housing on the filter underneath?
