79 f150 Gear noise! Starting issue!
So i recently moved to georgia and found this 1979 F150 that i fell in love with so i bought it. Couple issues, when you drive there is a loud gear noise coming from the manual transmission. My assumption is that it might be low on fluid. I just replaced the sifter forks. Its loud not grinding but i can hear the gears and it gets loud. Also whenever i start the truck which is typical im assuming gotta pump the gas heavily, was curious how i could fix that. Any comments help thanks!!

Welcome to FTE. Lots of good people here.
First we need particulars on your vehicle. Don't ask for help saying, "I have a vehicle that makes noise when I start her up and punch the pedal".....no one here is a mind reader....well, maybe one person...who lives in SoCal...hehe.
Particulars like:
What engine?
What carb?
What transmission?....4WD or 2WD?
Etc, etc.
Ok?
Trans noise....if you hear noises and suspect a fluid level is not right, check/fill.
Carb/"pump the gas heavily"...Well these here old vehicles aren't like the new fangled, VVT, fuel infected cars where one just turns the key and go.
The carb might have a choke on it, manual or electric, and you need to smash the gas pedal once or twice to set the choke. It might turn over a few times before firing...and then die. Do it again. Once she's up to operating temp and you shut her off for a spell then go to start her, she might need a coupla hits on the loud pedal - give her some squirts of gas from the accelerator pump and she'll be good to go.
That is, if the carb's squared away.
Need particulars.....pictures would be nice, too....as we're all visual creatures when it come to these trucks.

My NP435 is also noisy, especially at highway speeds. Believe the shift fork pads are the culprit - those are nylon pads that go on the ends of the shift forks I believe. Pain in the back side to pull the carpet, shifters, and tunnel cover to check them. I have the parts but haven't torn into it yet.
