ABS Light and Cruise Control

Hi all, just joined the site. Bought a 94 F250 with a 96 7.3 IDI, the ABS light was on when I got it. I had the back brakes redone, replaced the speed sensor, new E brake and brake cables. Front end brakes were good when checked, brake fluid is full and fuse is good. All this was done at the same time; the day I drove home from the shop the light was off, and the cruise control worked. Since then, the light comes on and off depending on the day, but the cruise has not worked regardless of the light being on or not. Thoughts? Seems electrical to me but not sure where to look next, ABS sensors maybe? Thanks, glad to be among good company on here!

You need to pull the codes from the RABS control unit. RABS is an acronym for Rear Anti-lock Brake System.

Some great info for the procedure and code definitions from Steve83: RABS Flashout Procedure

Ok. I've read some other posts on here about just bypassing the RABS module, what are your thoughts on that? Would the cruise still work if I did that?

Pull the RABS codes first. No sense ignoring the reason for the malfunction light.

Does the speedometer read okay, no wavering, etc.?

*bump* For anyone coming across this thread, just tapping in to say I suffered a clockspring failure shortly after I bought my 94 f150 xlt, and beforehand, the horn as well as the cruise worked. Two years go by, during which I had experienced the RABS unit failing by holding brake pressure in my rear brakes causing wheel cylinder failure. I bypassed the unit, and to avoid any potential codes, I removed the rear abs module from behind the glovebox. Fast forward to last Friday, I replaced my clock spring to discover that my cruise no longer works. I am going to dig into the diagnostic procedure for the RABS valve and find out what causes it to set faults, and see if it will detect faults if it's left plugged in while bypassed. I will update with my findings.
