Transfer case trans fluid change and front differential gear oil change are on my list of to-do's. I'll add that front vent and extend it, too.
That differential...no filter in it, just drain and refill with Mercon V, right? Wasn't there some special Ford fluid for that to keep it from exploding?

The transfer case calls out transmission fluid, but I'm remembering some thread about a special fluid in there for the heat so it doesn't blow apart...can't find the details.

Alternator wire problem found
See what I see?
Apparently when it was laying flat against the alternator housing, it must've rubbed- possibly when I leaned on it
There is actually a bit of wire barely showing. I couldn't quite pick that up on my cell phone camera.
Well, it has some black tape on it until I can pick up some liquid electrical tape.
Hopefully that is the only problem with the charging

Oil leaks SUCK!!!
Well, after all this, I STILL have a substantial oil leak
I worked from the bottom with towels and brake cleaner to clean up old oil and junk on the motor and oil pan and stuff. I found a fair amount of wet oil on the FRONT of the motor
So I began climbing, crawling, stretching all over to narrow it down.
It seems to be rolling out of the front of the valley. To test this, I worked from the top with rags and towels to clean out the valley. I used a long screwdriver to put blue shop rags into the valley and move then around, then a piece of wire with a coiled end and pointed tip on it to stick and retrieve the rags.
Then I put a fresh rage just in front of the spider to separate the turbo oil area from the HPOP oil area.
That rag stayed dry through a start and short drive, but oil began to build up in the front part of the valley.
I had tried to clean the HPOP "non-serviceable plug" before the test but it was very difficult to reach. If it is leaking, it is a weep (or on the bottom 1/3 that I can't see?)
The hoses and new fittings are dry. I wiped them before and they were still bone dry.
So now I'm thinking:
1. IPR
2. Non-serviceable plug
3. HPOP gasket
4. Tear in the fabric of time and space
In that order.
So tomorrow after I pick up the fuel pressure regulator rebuild kit and other parts, I will move the AIH relay, unplug multiple sensors, disconnect fuel lines, move fuel bowl out of the way or remove it completely to rebuild the FPR and make room to get to the HPOP and inspect it with lights and mirror and maybe even my little inspection camera.
I *hope* it is the IPR (orings). If so I can pull than and go to Allied Seal and back in under 2 hrs and get it back together rather painlessly.
If it is the non-serviceable plug, then I'm into pulling the HPOP, waiting for both HPOP gasket and the non-serviceable plug parts before I can fix it.
Here's a before pic of the HPOP, when I had it torn down to replace the fittings and hoses. See anything of concern/interest?
