electrical gremlin/engine shut off
Hey Yall, riding along in my automobile...... Er, leaving the food store and heading for the house, went about 5 miles and she shut off (99 Expy EB 5.4 4r100 4x4 with no 4HI and new Bosch fuel pump).
Tried to start, either no fuel or no spark. Fiddle with some fuses and the inertia switch but it was dark enough and noisy enough that I couldn't hear or see much. After about 10 minutes it fired up and drove it to my shop to get my other car.
Got it in the shop, shut it off, and tried to restart it. No dice. I noticed that the gauges were not working and the odometer just showed dashes. I unhooked the battery and had to leave as 3:30 am comes awfully early. Right now I am leaning towards bad battery of bad bad battery connection.
In my mind it sounds like something is getting heat soaked and failing, then working again when it cools off. Has anyone been down this path before and can offer some tips and tricks?
