anyone thinking about putting a tune from 5 star in their truck, i only have one thing to say: don't think, just do it!!!
holy crap on a cracker, this is a completely different truck now.
i only put the 89 econo tune in it, and the dead spot off a stop light due to the drive by wire is completely gone.
shift points are different, and it feels a lot more responsive too on the short 1 mile run out on the highway.
Mike sent me his three basic tunes, 89 econo, 89 tow, and 89 performance.
i will play with all three over the next few weeks to see which one gives the best fuel mileage, but if it is anything like the DP tunes i have in the 02 diesel i think the econo tune is going to be the ticket.

I wouldnt wait. I bought a five star tune a couple of months after owning my truck.
Its true...will seem like a completely different truck.
Im not sure what the warranty has to do with anything. People buy these trucks and modify them for business purposes that would be far harder on them than a tune.

I have a great dealer that I have a fairly long history with. I have talked to them, and they don't care what I do to the truck, they will warranty anything they can. But I was warned, if ford ask for the history on the computer, the tune will leave a footprint, and IF ford denies it, there is nothing they can do. I know major issues are rare with the 6.2 and 6r140 under warranty, but my luck, the tranny would start slipping and the motor would drop a valve if I put the tuner on before warranty was up.

The tune on this truck is key. I bought mine back in March and was initially kind of disappointed, I mean don't get me wrong, the power was there and it had awesome power when you really got on it, but it was disappointing just driving it normally. I got a bunch of tunes from 5 star and I couldn't believe the difference. I got 87 daily/tow, 87 performance, 93 daily/tow and 93 performance. I have settled on 93 daily/tow. I pretty much only tow with it and I have found this the best. I absolutely love it. I wasn't a fan of the performance, the shifting felt like it was set up for racing and killed mpg. I mean I guess that's what it's supposed to do but I always felt like I needed to upshift lol I haven't taken the 93 d/t off at all. Extremely happy with the truck now
