1979 Ford F250 Custom Explorer 2x4
I have a chance to buy a 1979 Ford F250 Custom with the Explorer package 351 engine. The truck has been in a barn since new and only has 188 miles. Yes 188 original miles. The guy said he never drove it after he bought it. The only time he drove the truck was to drive it home when he bought it with 11 miles on it and to pull it out to wash and wax it 20 years ago. The truck is all original and interior still smell like new 1979. It is the real deal original barn find. I have all the paperwork to support the miles. What is this truck worth? Should I buy it?

Price is dictated by condition!
How has it been stored?
If it's been stored in a dry environment and the chassis and undercarriage shows signs of original factory finishes then you're a winner! BUT, if the truck was washed and put away wet then check for things like Cowl & A-pillar rust bleeding, door bottoms, etc.
Is the chassis showing rust or scaling paint and/or metal? If so then is has been in a damp storage area a lot of the time and that will affect value.
What about rodents? Any sign of mouse activity?
A 188-mile original truck, well stored in a dry environment should show pretty much like new all over, not just with exterior paint and/or interior... Any smell on the interior, you know, like mold or must?
Without giving your 'barn find' away, it'd be nice to see some undercarriage photo's to help determine condition and maybe ballpark some value...
Best of luck, and we will watch for future photo's - even if you don't buy it (hint, hint).
