Wood Grain Trim

My 85 f250 interior dash is in need of some love. The wood grain looking stuff on there now is worn out, and I was looking on the Internet for wood vinyl and there is quite a bit out there. Has anyone done this, and could you share where you purchased it? I found some stuff from Metro Restyling Metro Restyling - Leader in Color Change Wrap Vinyl that looks doable, but thought I would bounce it off this group.

Thanks!

I've had fairly good luck at my local pick n pulls. Unfortunately for us diesel owners the instrument panel with the glow plug light and stuff are more rare than the gas versions. You did luck out having an '85 cause that means you have the "burlwood" pattern whereas if it were 83-84 it'd be rosewood which is like really rare... I've had trouble even finding pictures.

But anyways, if you were in Oregon I actually have a good condition burlwood diesel instrument panel I'd let go of. Otherwise junkyards can be worth it

it would be nice to find a product/way to replace the dash vinyl, but I didn't see anything on that website that showed a wrap for that purpose. Were I used to work we had wraps (advertising) on some of the company vehicles. That material was more like a bumper sticker material and I don't see it working for the dash (too many bends/curves). Maybe there is a different (thinner?) product.

The website did show a "brake caliper" wrap. That definitely has a lot of bends/curves - I'd be interested in knowing how that wrap is applied.

Thanks SpencerS. I have a local Pick and Pull, but as you stated, not a lot of luck for the diesels, and we don't get a lot of the Bullnoses either. There is another in Panama City that I watch for them coming in and I see some come up on Craigslist periodically that I could use as donors.

Thumbs up

I've seen a couple shows that used the new "DIP" method for woodgrain..and the one I remember best was on Wheeler Dealers. They dipped wheels with a snakeskin pattern..came out perfect..Check into it..jv..

1985 F250/350 diesel: Center (instrument cluster) wood grain bezel: With/without A/C?

Right side wood grain bezel: With/without radio? With/without Clock? With/without nameplate holes?

FoMoCo used 3M "Di-Noc" wood grain decals for 1979/91 Country Squire station wagons.

A pal of mine used wood grained shelf paper on his 1959 Mercury Colony Park station wagon, then sprayed it with lacquer.

I was dubious until I saw it, it looked beautiful.

1985/86 F250/350 Diesel:

E5TZ-10044D70-F .. Instrument Cluster (Center) Wood Grain Bezel with factory installed A/C / Obsolete

Last MSRP: $125.50 ~ Dealer net cost: $75.30.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 1 = 800-476-9653.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1985/86 F150/350 & Bronco:

E5TZ-10044D70-M .. Right Wood Grain Dash Bezel without radio, without clock, with nameplate holes / Obsolete

Last MSRP: $21.99 ~ Dealer net cost: $13.19.

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
---
No radio, there's no hole for one. If an aftermarket radio was installed, the hole would have to be cut out w/a saw.

E5TZ-10044D70-K .. Right Wood Grain Dash Bezel with radio, without clock, with nameplate holes / Obsolete

Last MSRP: $18.44 ~ Dealer net cost: $11.18.

HAVEN FORD PARTS in Haven KS has 1 = 620-465-2252.

Haven was a dealer, but Ford bought out their franchise (and 100's of other 'un-performing dealers') during the 2005/2008 great recession.

What they're now doing is selling the obsolete parts they have remaining and doing mechanical work.

You are talking of something like this
My Dip Kit Store - Hydrographics Film Kit - How To Water Transfer Printing
I only see Burl wood but they may have something else not on the site?
No I have not used this so cant say how it works but they have "How To" videos.
