EVERY Ford truck for 40 years has or will have rusty cab corners. (Ok, unless you like in a dry state). If only Ford put a drain hole in through 2016.

I know the new 2017 cab is made up of mostly aluminum alloy, but there is steel for various reasons in key areas. Are the Cab Corners a key area?

My understanding is the cab corners are all aluminum, but that said we may not be in the clear. Aluminum can still oxidize and corrode, and unfortunately the 150's haven't had the Aluminum bodies long enough to tell if they will last forever, yet. So knowing that you plow and more than likely deal with salt and harsh winter chemicals (if they spray the de-icer stuff in your area) you may want to check into some of the 5 year old F150's in your area to see if they are starting to show paint flaking in the cab corners.

I thought I read on here somewhere that the cab corners are plastic, so I went out and tapped on it and it sure feels plastic to me.

Here is a pic of my truck before heading into paint, not the best pic, but it looks like Aluminum in the corners.

Yeap the corners are aluminum with a plastic covering to follow the body lines .. I'm assuming ford done this because it was to hard to make the correct bends with aluminum

I think rust in the cab corners is a GM thing (It was for my dad's GMC anyway).
The corners of our (steel) 2004 f350 havent rusted, and its seen plenty of service in salt/snow sand/beach

My 07 with 81K miles on it rusted thru this past winter. I washed the truck weekly. Ford has rust issues in there cabs. Most GM's i have seen have them in the bed. I would prefer Bed rust over cab corners. I just expect it and live with it.

Here's a pic from the forum @Frantz explained that on the Fleet vehicles they don't paint this area and some few other places that have plastic like they do on ours.

2017 F250/350 Super Duty uses the same cabs as 2015/2017 F150.

The firewall is steel, the rest of the cab is aluminum.

Rusted out cab corners are a common problem for Ford trucks, so much so that they have been reproduced for (at least) 1961/79.

A current thread posted by a member of the 1957/60 forum is looking for cab corners....hasn't been able to find any.

Another rust problem is the drip rails. Ford spot welded the drip rails to the roof, then used paintable caulk to fill in the gaps.

The caulk chips off, water seeps in, rust begins, soon spreads into the roof.

I don't plan on plowing with the new Super Duty.....I have the 1989 Bronco II for that. I need to turn around on a dime and fit into tight areas at my property, something a Super Duty doesn't do.
