That's the cool thing about science - it can be proven.

New fun fact! That's probably one of the last buckets of CJ-4 you'll find. It's been replaced by CK-4, with a little statement from Ford, there has been great discussion on the subject. Long story short the only CJ-4 left is what's on the shelves. Ford has not approved CK-4, and in the future you'll be looking for something with Ford spec WSS-M2C171-F1. I really thought this was going to be another of "those" threads.

Any way what you have is pretty good Dino oil. And all CJ-4 oil was approved and good to go.

Also try not to mix oil weights. The different multi weight oils use different polymer compounds to achieve their specific properties, it rarely happens but they can react poorly and cause foaming and premature break down.

It's best to stick to the same API service rating and weight. But if you're in a bind some oil is usually better than no oil. And don't worry about changing brands / weights from one change to the next. Just when topping off.

Also, aren't you changing oil after doing injectors? The filter really isn't that pricey, might as well change it and get as much fuel out of your oil system as possible.

Edit: filter is $14.81 on Riff Raff,. I've heard it's $10 at Walmart. I'll never have first hand knowledge of the Walmart price, because I refuse to shop there. But either way it's pretty cheap.

I would think it's less a replacement, and more akin to a newer version.

I bet (until further notice, LOL) the CJ4 spec oil will still be made. It's still easily found on the shelves right now, still on the approval list of Ford.

Is there any synthetic 5W-40 CJ4 on the shelves? Clearly, Rotella T6 is now CK-only, everywhere you look...

I run Miles straight weight 40 oil in my 500hp, Detroit 8V92 and I can tell you that it is easily the equivalent of Chevron Delo 100 (which is now approaching $20/gallon). I have had it tested and it performs as good as Delo 100. I bought it on Amazon a number of times ($50 for 5 gallon bucket delivered free via Amazon Prime)...good stuff and I wouldn't hesitate using their other oils.

Where are you looking? I haven't seen CJ-4 on the shelf for a few months now. Everything is CK-4.

Walmart and Home Depot.

Walmart has the Motorcraft and the Shell T4. IIRC, the Supertech is CJ4 too.

Home Depot has the T4.

I was at wal-mart a few months ago and all they had in every weight and brand was CK-4. They also had motorcraft oil, but it only met the -E of that spec, not -F1. I ended up going to Tractor Supply, and they had 5 or 6 gallons of CJ-4 T6 on the shelf. Each bottle had a good amount of dust on it too.

That said, according to Google's conversion tool, 5gal = 18.927 liters, so maybe they just round off on the label?

According to some reports, it is 18l, so it is short. But the jug looks like a 5 gallon one.

The fact that Milesyn is made in the USA did make a difference in the decision.

Thanks, Neal. That settles it! It will be old Green's new oil.

If this is to be a consideration, then beware the Citgo oil. The profits for that go to Venezuela, socialist regime currently flogging its' population thru the SOP demise of socialist regimes.

That said, I'd run it except I have a soft spot for Delo.
