Parking Brake Adjustment wheel off center of adjuster hole.

Parking Brake Adjustment wheel off center of adjuster hole.
Hi
I just replaced the parking brake shoes on my 2003 F-150 Off Road.
This is the disc rotor with the hat for the Pbrake.
It went ok and parking brake works well now BUT..
On one side the toothed adjuster wheel does not show in the little adjuster slot in the backing plate (where the rubber plug is). The adjuster wheel is off center of this hole to the point that I cannot get a screw driver or brake spoon on the adjuster star.
I noticed this after I put everything back together, I then took at all apart again and still could not get the toothed wheel to align with the adjuster slot.
It does not matter if the adjuster wheel is faced toward the front (correct I think) or the rear of the truck. I am positive the shoes are correct and are installed correctly.
I was going to flip the actual adjuster nut around, but that makes the wheel even further away from the adjuster slot hole. I compared the new adjuster to the old one and they are identical and the same length.
Any tips? Very stumped

Hi
Thanks, I have heard other people say the adjuster only works one way?
I don't think so, its just a threaded shaft with the toothed nut on it, it fits inside a metal sleeve. You can turn this nut in either direction, as in tighten or loosen.
How else can you adjust the ebrake shoes? If they are to tight and you can't get the hat rotor back on you need to loosen. If the ebrake does not grab well then you tighten. Ironically when the shoes are adjusted out far enough for the wheel to show in the adjuster slot, you of course cannot get the rotor back on.
I loosened until I could just force the rotor back on. The ebrake works fine, but is pisses me off that I cannot adjust this side.
Anyone please????
