Electrical short 7.3
I have 2001 power stroke f 250 I live in hawaii and it has rusted to the point water is leaking into the cab. Yesterday, the batteries went dead. After jumping it it ran fine for a few hours then it started running rough. I replaced the fuel filter and put in a new cam position sensor only because i have had trouble with both those items in the past. Started it up for a test drive and could tell there was no improvement. Then it died in the drive way. Now it won't start, coughs at best.
But there more! Remember the batteries went dead because there is some short somewhere because even with the keys in my pocket the ac fan will turn on and the turn signal works. I believe the rain through the roof is causing the short.
Anyone have any guesses to what i should do? My apologies if this is the wrong form.

Leaky clearance lights and windscreens can drip down on the back of the fuse panel under the driver side dash and cause random havoc. Also check the fuses and relays under the hood for meltage.
Stop the leaks somehow. You can pull apart the under dash fuse panel but first I'd borrow the GFs hairdrier and blow warm air on it for a couple hours. Hang it off the steering wheel. With a little luck it might be fine when dried out.

Thanks for the reply. I checked under the hood fuses and relays. no sign of meltage or water damage. I also looked the connection for the IDM and it looks good. no way to tell if there is water damage unless I remove it and open sealed unit.
Under the dash....Im sure water leaked through the area but its hard to see any evidence. other then the shorting going on.
I will put a heat fan it. If i borrow my GF hair dryer my wife might not agree with my new truck order!
Thanks
