Question Belt drive braket help

I have an 86 F350 chassis-cab with the 6.9L engine. the main issue with my engine is I don't really have any of the original brackets for all the accessories. I just have a giant 1/4" steel plate turned into a bracket by one of the previous owners. I recently went to a junkyard in my area and I found some gas-engined fords that have a very similar v-belt brackets, and they look like they will mount the same way as my engine came factory. Does anyone have any idea what gas-engine brackets will work with my 6.9? I just want to check before I spend forever removing the ones I found.

I don't believe any of the brackets interchanged between any of the engine lines. I have the A/C brackets shown here on my web site: Factory A/C Brackets - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Note that there's a different part number for the 4.9L, the Windsors, the 351M/400, the 6.9, and the 7.5.

I was worried that might be the case... the brackets I found have a very different alternator mount, and have a smog pump, rather than the vacuum pump...

any suggestions for finding a factory (or factory-style) mount? I mainly need one for my power steering pump and tensioning pulley. the giant steel plate relocated the pump too far away for factory replacement steering lines. and since ford discontinued those parts, I'm left to try and find things the old fashioned way...

I've seen Scott Drake offer some factory style steel brackets for various models. Do a quick google and see what you come up with.

The only things I looked up were the P/S pump mounting brackets.

The adjusting bracket is the same 1978/82 F100/150 300/302, 1981/82 F150/350/Bronco 351W and 1983/89 F250/350 6.9L/7.3L diesel (D8AZ-3A732-A), but...

The front/rear support brackets are diesel only.

I might be lucky, and I might have the original rear support bracket. do you think a gas engines front support bracket could be made to work? Or do you think I would need to have a custom bracket made for the front? I dont really care about the A/C pump mounting, since I dont even have the pump at this point. but that power steering mounting has been delaying the repairs on that system since I got the truck.

Well, crud. At least I can get the part that actually holds the pump. That's one of the more difficult parts down...

Anyone know of a good place in the SLC area that might have the elusive brackets I need?

Ask this question in FTE's UT chapter, or better yet...join it. The more people you know, the easier it will be to find parts.

Call a local auto wrecker, ask to have your request put on their computerized "hot line."

So I looked closer at the gassers mounting brackets, and they look like the p/s brackets could be made to work. I'm still going to look for proper diesel engine bracktes, but this at least gives me a starting point.

now I have to find the factory belt routing.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll keep looking for the proper brackets, and let you guys know what I find.

I have a full set of Vbelt brackets off a 7.3, they are the same as the brackets on my 6.9. I'm keeping the air conditioner brackets but don't need the alternator, vacuum pump and power steering brackets. Let me know what you need and I'll hook you up.
