Fuel tank question

Got a question on fuel tanks. Friend of mine wants to build a used Transit into a homemade camping van. She'd like to build a generator in, like in motorhomes. On motorhomes, there is a special pickup in the fuel tank that only draws from the top 3/4 of the tank, so you can't accidentaly run your fuel tank dry leaving you stranded and out of gas.

We've been told that there is a contractor's package that includes a built in generator.

Does anyone know if all Transit fuel tanks have a port for feeding a generator, or was there an optional, special fuel tank for the contractor's package?

Thanks

There aren't any factory generator options and to my knowledge there is no factory fuel tank that would have an auxiliary outlet, though I honestly haven't looked close enough to see if there is perhaps some standard fixture. I would think you're best bet is to add an auxiliary tank. I don't think I'd like the top 3/4 option anyhow, as you'll be scrambling for a gas station just prior to pulling in, and if you're going off the beaten trail, that simply won't be an option sometimes.

It sure does. Not really a maintenance issue though it's an after combustion treatment and urea is cheap.
