Are these hub caps period correct?

69 Ford F-250 4X4, 9:00-16 treads
A friend gave the caps to me, just not sure I like the hub cap look on this ol feller. Have to cut the fronts with a hole saw and drill press if I use em. Finishing up a brake job and I'll get a better pic.

Yes, they are, but F-250's didn't have front hubcaps so you have to do what you are doing, and cut them out.

At some point they did offer them on 4x4s with the center cut out. I had a new 76 with them and also a couple years ago was the second owner on this 1974 pathfinder van that had them. BTW, good looking truck. Out of the 100 or so Ford pickups I've owned, a 69 highboy was one of my favorites. Mine had the same grill guard too.

I LOVE those vans! That one looks nice, and 4x4, how awesome. Wish I could find one. Saw this one at a car show recently sitting in the parking lot.

This "outie" hubcap was used on 1967/77 F250 2WD & F350, 1969/74 E300, 1975/77 E250/350 and on the rear of 1967/77 F250 4WD's.

There were no front hubcaps available for F250/350 4WD's until 1985.

That hole is going to have to be perfectly centered. Besides the ol' measure twice and drill once , I suggest you put a piece of wood directly under the center of the cap. Use a hammer and punch to drive a centering divot in to the cap and the wood under it. Use this divot to center your hole saw.

Agreed. You could also use the ol compass with the radius of the hole to find the center.

I have to disagree. Since I special ordered a 1976 F250 4x4 and it came with those same hubcaps and the fronts with the center cut out for the hubs. The 74 van I was second owner on but the caps were factory. They aren't just hole sawed, they have a nice lip around the inside of the cutout/

That ambulance van brought crazy money. It had never spent a night outside, 64,000 miles. I got it for beans on an auction, sold it to a friend and he ebayed it for $12,700. It was a wretched thing to drive and seriously underpowered with the 302

1964/72 & 1973/79 truck parts catalogs says inre to 1967/77 F250 4WD front hubcaps: Not Available

So how your truck came with not available hubcaps, I dunno.

An anomaly for sure. Glad I never lost one if Ford didn't know they made 'em,lol.
I've seen other sets and also for sale on ebay for the 4x4 with the cutouts. Maybe just a paper glitch they aren't in the parts book.

Just a quick google search showed a few more

The other hubcaps have been modified, having the center cut open for the 4WD hub.

It's not a glitch since the F250 4WD front hubcaps are not listed in the 1964/72 & 1973/79 truck parts catalogs.

Parts catalogs were updated at least twice a year, so if there was a glitch, it would have been corrected.

1964/72 catalog final edition: May 1975; 1973/79 catalog final edition: October 1988.
